Become a part of our team!
Every year we welcome new cheerleaders as part of our Titan Cheer Family! Any 8th grade students zoned for Golden Gate HS, any current GGHS students, or any students new to GGHS are welcome to try out for our team! Our goal is to support our football and basketball teams, boost school spirit, and be the best Cheer Team in town! We work hard, have a LOT of fun, and get opportunities that many of other students don't. We look forward to seeing you at our next tryout!
Tryouts for 2015-16 School year will be held april 7-10 from 5:30-7:30pm
GGHS Cheerleaders cheer at football and basketball games. We are also present at many campus and community events. Practices will begin the week of April 14 and will continue through summer, fall, and winter.
Cheer is a year-round sport, it requires your commitment from April through January (spring football, summer practices and camps, fall football, and winter basketball).
Cheerleaders are required to maintain a 2.0 GPA.
All parts of the Tryout process will be scored, this includes punctuality, preparedness, attitude, motivation, appearance (dressed as directed), cooperation, and all parts of this packet! READ IT THOROUGHLY!

Clinics:
Pre-tryout clinics will be held from 5:30-7:30pm April 7-9th. ALL Clinics are REQUIRED.
Cuts may take place throughout the process.
Tryouts:
Tryouts will be held on Friday, April 10 at 5:30pm. You will be scored in the categories of cheer, dance, jumps, stunts, tumbling, appearance, interview, and overall impression. These will be taught during the REQUIRED clinics. The teams will be announced Friday night on our website (www.gghscheer.weebly.com)
TEAM MEETING:
THERE WILL BE A REQUIRED TEAM MEETING
ON SATURDAY, APRIL 11th at 9:00AM.

Time Commitment
Cheerleaders are required to attend ALL practices, games, and team events, including, but not limited to, community events, fundraisers, decorating on campus, etc. Cheerleaders should expect to devote up to 8 hours per week practicing, plus tumbling classes, games and other events. Cheer practice must come before ALL other sports or after school activities. Cheerleaders MUST have reliable, timely transportation to and from all events.

Cheerleaders may fundraise for their ENTIRE gear cost (does not include camps or tumbling) simply by selling Football Program ads!
Cheerleaders will receive 50% of the face value of their ad (ex: you sell a $200 ad, you get $100 credit towards your cost!)
Ads must be sold AND TURNED IN by May 8! NO EXCEPTIONS!

I understand that he/she must abide by the rules and regulations set forth by the coaching staff and the principal of Golden Gate High School, and be present for ALL practices and games. I have read the entire Tryout Packet, including Cheer Contract & Attendance Policy, and the Fundraising & Financial Policy and understand that the violation of any of these rules may lead to temporary or permanent suspension from the squad. I understand that all forms must be completed and returned NO LATER THAN TUESDAY, APRIL 7 at 5:30pm or my child will not be allowed to tryout. I understand that my child must attend all clinics (unless excused by the coach) and tryout sessions, or my child will not be considered for a cheerleading position. I understand that my daughter/son will be evaluated by qualified judges, and we agree to abide by the decision of the judges. I understand all costs involved. I understand by the very nature of the activity, cheerleading and gymnastics carry a risk of physical injury. I understand that no matter how careful the participant and coach are, how many spotters are used, or what landing surface is used, the risk cannot be eliminated. The risk of injury includes minor injuries such as muscle pulls, bumps, bruises, sprains, dislocation, & broken bones.

- Physical dated BEFORE April 10, 2014 (if your physical is on file with the GGHS activities office, you MUST have Mrs. Williams sign your booklet that your physical is on file and NOT expired!)
- Cheerleading Application
- Copy of your 3rd Quarter Report Card (distributed on April 1)
What to Wear
- Day 1: Any color sports bra or shirt and black athletic shorts, white athletic shoes or cheer shoes.
- Day 2 & 3: Athletic shorts, sports bra, t-shirt, or tank in GGHS Colors, white athletic shoes or cheer shoes.
- Tryouts: Black sports bra or shirt, black athletic shorts, white athletic shoes or cheer shoes.
Time Commitment

- Attend ALL Games, Practices, Tumbling Classes, Fundraisers, and Team Events, including but not limited to community events, decorating events, team bonding events, camps/clinics, etc.
- Always be early and prepared! (Even if you are injured or sick, you may sit out!)
- Always represent GGHS as a lady or gentleman and be an excellent example of what it means to be a Titan!
- Always arrive in correct uniform!
- Always be responsible and accountable!
- Always use appropriate language! (Yes, this includes on twitter, instagram, and all social media, etc.!)
- Always have a positive attitude, be willing to work with others, and be a team player!
- Always maintain AT LEAST a 2.0 GPA, turn in ALL assignments, and be on time to school!
- Always follow school rules!
- Always provide requests for absences more than 7 days in advance, via email! (YOU MAY NOT MISS MORE THAN 5 EVENTS PER YEAR, INCLUDING PRACTICES!)
- Attend school ON TIME the day of, and day after every game!
CHEERLEADER APPEARANCE AND UNIFORMS
- ONLY GGHS Cheerleaders may wear GGHS Cheer clothes, uniforms, warm ups, bows, etc!
- Being in uniform includes the following:
- Game day hair, with correct bow
- Game day makeup, with tattoo
- Uniform top, skirt, correct sliders, sports bra, and under armor (when designated).
- Cheer shoes with white no show ankle socks (or designated special occasion socks)
- NO jewelry
- Correct Poms
- NO nail polish OR only gold, beige, french, or clear.
TUMBLING
- TUMBLING IS REQUIRED OF ALL CHEERLEADERS FROM APRIL-FEBRUARY!
- Tumbling classes will be held at ROCKSTAR CHEER (2383 Linwood Way. Naples, FL 34112)
- Cost is $20 per month, due on the 15th of each month, in cash or check paid directly to ROCKSTAR CHEER NAPLES
- Missed tumbling = missed practice/game/event! If you miss tumbling class, you will sit out a game. Tumbling is billed monthly, therefore, skipping tumbling not only costs you time on the sideline, but it also costs you money! Make sure to attend EVERY WEEK!
